OUR MASHGEACH POSITION
The primary purpose of the MASHGEACH job is to assure the kashrut of  foods for residents, employees, special functions and satellite meals in accordance with Kosher dietary laws.


RESPONSBILITIES -MASHGEACH

  • Meet with residents and families as requested to manage questions surrounding the adherence to a kosher diet.
  • Maintain operating standards through documentation in Mashgeach Log of incidences of inappropriate kosher standards and practice.
  • Handle issues of disagreement with discretion and maturity.  Promptly bring to the attention of the General Manager and the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington, as appropriate.
  • Perform tasks of religious significance in food preparation in a timely manner and to the correct quantities needed for resident and customer meal service.
  • Open and close kitchens in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Practice and provide kosher supervision under the auspices of the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the mission of Charles E. Smith Life Communities.

EDUCATION & TRAINING-MEDICAID CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST

  • Qualifications as to knowledge of role will be determined by the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington acting as the supervising body for compliance to kosher standards.
  • Must be an approved Mashgeach through the Vaad.
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Qualifications as to knowledge of role will be determined by the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington acting as the supervising body for compliance to kosher standards. 
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other staff.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Must possess the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must possess working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
